We invite you to an intimate night of dark, acoustic, ambient, noise folk music at Sveta, We have two very, very special guests. The internationally renowned Matt Elliott and rising local treasure, Liis Ring will perform live in what will be surely an evening of pure bliss. Tickets will be limited as it will be an all seated event. Below is a little more information about the artists
Matt Elliott is a guitarist and singer from Bristol, United Kingdom who plays dark folk music. He also produced and recorded under the name ‘The Third Eye Foundation’.

Elliott was first inspired to investigate & to attempt to understand music at around 7 years old on hearing the mournful tones of a Russian orthodox choir & wondering how music alone can move you to tears. This would eventually inspire him to study music un-academically through his own research into sound & music.
Sadness, pain, exhaustion and frustration are the recurring themes in Matt Elliott’s music . That’s what the artist from Bristol himself says. There is also so much attention to detail in his dark folk. He hugs around like a fluffy coat and warms. Best to enjoy on a cold winter evening.
With his dystopian Drum’n’Bass project Third Eye Foundation , Matt Elliott defined a new genre in the 1990s. In addition to working as a live musician he develops under his own name an individual sound cosmos that brings together melancholy folk ballads, wall-of-noise and political statements. Intimacy is the keyword, you feel as close to the artist as if you were in a room, with him and his music.
As we are now celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of The Third Eye Foundation’s Semtex, one of the most influential drum & bass albums of its time, it is worthwhile revisiting the career of Matt Elliott, its composer.
Matt was not even 16 while he decided to stop his studies to devote himself to his passion for music, getting a job at the famous Revolver records shop, and deejaying in Bristol clubs he wasn’t legally allowed to enter at this age.
Then, and before this press release becomes too boring, we can mention that he’s been a professional artist for 20 years now, being requested by John Peel for a BBC session calling him at his own place, was signed on Domino Records in 1997, was asked for official remixes for Tarwater, Blonde Redhead, Mogwai, Ulver and Thurston Moore.Thurston later invited him to play under the NYC Brooklyn Bridge, he was one of the few artists involved in the reunion of Silver Apples and then touring with them in the US, toured as a choir singer aside Yann Tiersen around the year 2010, and played hundred of shows as Matt Elliott over UK, Germany, France, Japan, Greece, Italy and Spain/Portugal for years.
To finish this name dropping part, let’s notice that he played the greatest festivals such as Primavera and Tanned Tin in Spain, Incubate & Le Guess Who in the Netherlands, and the infamous All Tomorrow’s Party in the UK.

Liis Ring defines herself as a (sound) artist, musician, wanderer, thinker, collector, bird watcher and idealist based somewhere between Tallinn, Estonia and Gothenburg, Sweden. She has performed her music in 12 different countries, created music and sound for several films and theatre productions and released two full-length albums and two EPs.
Her music has been described as fairy-pop (Siim Nestor, Areen) and fragile, shoegazy minimal electronica (Tauno Vahter, Eesti Ekspress). Her live concerts consist of field recordings combined with ambient electronica, smooth vocals and acoustic instruments that take the audience on a vivid journey.
Liis has been active in different bands since 2008, when she played guitar in indie band Animal Drama from Tartu. Later she joined Talamak and Mirabilia. Since 2013 Liis has been performing as a solo artist and her first LP “Fables of a Faraway Land” was released by Õunaviks in 2014 when she was still hiding behind the pseudonym cirkl, In 2016 and 2018, she self-released the EPs “Satori” and ”Åker”, already as Liis Ring. In 2019, LP “Woolgathering” followed, again by Õunaviks, who are also releasing the new collaborative EP “Paralleel” by Liis Ring and Galaktlan on November 28th this year.
